WAFLT Custom Testing
The Custom Language Test has two parts with 3 prompts each:
Writing by hand in their language
Speaking that the student records in their language through a customized online website hosted by Avant Assessment
The prompts for the Custom Tests were developed in collaboration with the Center for Applied Second Language Study (CASLS) at the University of Oregon and Avant Assessment based on prompts previously used on STAMP tests.
After the students complete the Writing Test and record the Oral Language Test, WAFLT sends those samples to a national language agency working in translation and interpretation, which contracts with language professionals to train them to evaluate the samples based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines 2012 and the STAMP Rating Rubric and determine what level of credits the students should qualify for. These language professionals are not qualified to rate students’ proficiency at a specific level on the ACTFL scale, but they can evaluate that the samples are “At least Novice Mid, Novice High, Intermediate Low, or Intermediate Mid”.
Cost of evaluation of both Writing and Oral Language is $180.
New Language Set Up
There is a $100 set up fee for new languages
Extremely Rare Languages
For some languages the only qualified evaluators are ambassadors or high level government officials. These will cost more.
